HOS Jason Smith and the Board of Trustees announced that after six incredible

years of leadership, Jason will be concluding his tenure as Head of School at the

end of the 2026/2027 school year.

The Board is responsible for hiring, supporting, and evaluating the Head of School.

The Board has created a search committee made up of trustees.  The search

committee members are appropriately involved in the workings of the School and

are committed to its success.

Yes, most definitely. Our Educators Collaborative search consultants, Joan Beauregard and Mark Crotty, will conduct a community survey and will visit the school for meetings

with a wide range of constituents including students, parents, faculty, staff,

administrators, trustees and alumni. Their visit to ISA is scheduled to take place on

May 4th and 5th.

After what will appear to be a “quiet” phase in the process, community members

will be asked to re-engage. Community members will be invited to meet each of

the finalists when they come to school for their two-day visit and will be

encouraged to provide feedback to the Search Committee through post-interview

surveys.

Using the information gathered from the Educators Collaborative process, the search committee and the consultants will develop a position statement that articulates the opportunities and challenges that await the new Head of School, as well as the professional skills and personal characteristics most desirable and relevant to successfully lead ISA.

Absolutely. Input from the ISA community in this process is very important. The

finalists – most likely 3 people – will be invited to campus in the fall and have an

opportunity to meet with members of the ISA community. As previously

mentioned, community members will, in turn, be asked to provide their

confidential feedback via a survey.

Individuals who have an interest in the ISA Head’s role are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will be considered and reviewed in the same manner to both maintain

the integrity of the process and to ensure we select the individual best suited to be

the next ISA Head of School.

ISA is committed to engage in a thoughtful and deliberate search. We anticipate

the following timeline:

• Position posted: April 2026

• Semifinalist interviews: Early August 2026

• Finalist visits: September/October 2026

• Appointment and Announcement: Mid-December 2026

• Start date: July 1, 2027
