The International School of Arizona hosted its 4th Annual Children's Storytime and Poetry/Rhyme Reading Event on Saturday November 8, 2008. Forty six students from around the valley participated ranging in ages 2-17. These students had the opportunity to showcase their foreign language skills while gaining valuable public speaking experience.
Students recited poetry in eight languages: Afar, Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Norwegian, Occitane and Spanish. Storytellers read stories in five languages: Arabic, Chinese, German, French and Spanish and the ISA Children's Chorus also performed songs in English, Swahili, Spanish and French.
A foreign language book fair with titles in Arabic, French and Spanish was also held during the event to provide resources for families furthering their children's early foreign language learning.
ISA welcomes students around the state, up to age 17, to participate in this free event. Next year's event will be held on Saturday November 7, 2009 starting at 2:45pm. For more information please contact the school office 480-874-2326.
