ISA’s immersion program is rich and challenging. Our students “learn to read” and “read to learn” in the largest sense of the term. They take these fundamental skills and use them to analyze, think critically, and create. The program also teaches a sense of responsibility to our students as global citizens (honesty, personal responsibility, respect, and giving one’s best effort).
Following the European Curriculum, our Elementary School is divided by grade:
The subjects studied are: French/Spanish Language Arts, English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education .The French/Spanish teachers work closely with the English teachers. They jointly determine and address the students’ needs.
The 1st and 2nd grades have 6 hours/week of English and 1 hour/week of Music. All the other subjects are taught in French/Spanish. The 6 hours of English are divided in 1 hour of math, 1 hour of Science/Social Studies, and 4 hours of Language Arts.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th grades have 8 hours/week of English and 1 hour/week of Music. All the other subjects are taught in French/Spanish. The 8 hours of English are divided in 1 hour of math, 1 hour of Social Studies, 1 hour of Science, and 5 hours of Language Arts.
